Job Summary:
Tidda Counselling is seeking a passionate and dedicated Play Therapist to join our team. The Play
Therapist will be responsible for providing therapeutic play sessions to children, supporting their
emotional, social, and psychological well-being. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity
to contribute to parent coaching and our LEGO® therapeutic group program.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct individual play therapy sessions for children, utilizing a child-centered and trauma-
informed approach.
2. Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with young clients to facilitate emotional
expression and healing through play.
3. Create and implement appropriate play therapy treatment plans based on the individual needs
and goals of each child.
4. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and holistic care for the
children and families.
5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of play therapy sessions and progress, ensuring
confidentiality and compliance with ethical guidelines.
6. Participate in regular team meetings and case discussions to provide insights and receive
feedback on therapeutic approaches.
7. Contribute to our LEGO® therapeutic group program, facilitating sessions to enhance social
communication and collaboration skills in children.
8. Provide parent coaching sessions to support parents in understanding and responding
effectively to their child’s needs and behavior.
9. Stay informed about advancements and best practices in play therapy and related areas,
integrating new knowledge into therapy approaches.
10. Engage in continuous professional development, attending workshops, training, and
conferences related to play therapy.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Play Therapy, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or a related
field.
• Certified Play Therapist (CPT) credential is preferred.(Registiration of Australian Play Therapy
Association , or Australian Counselling Association, or similar )
• Experience in providing play therapy to children, with a strong understanding of child
development and psychological principles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with children and their
families.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and child-centered therapy approaches.
• Commitment to maintaining ethical standards and confidentiality.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and a compassionate approach in the therapeutic setting.
