About Amy

Amy Cummins

Clinical Psychologist

(BBehavSc, BPsySc (Hons), MPsychClin)

Amy is a Clinical Psychologist who has worked in the public mental health system for over 12 years, working across a variety of settings, including: inpatient, outpatient, emergency services, addiction medicine, and consultation for both primary and high schools. Concurrent to her public work she was also engaged as a private practitioner at headspace, which is a service that provides early intervention mental health services to children and young people.

She has always had a passion and special interest in working with children and young people, and believes that working systemically (with not only the children but also their family, school, and health care providers) is fundamental to achieve the best possible outcomes. Having two young children of her own she understands the need for flexibility, fun, and compassion in helping children stay engaged to achieve their full potential in both assessment and treatment.

Her diverse background has enabled her to fine tune her clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. As a senior clinician she is frequently presented with complex cases and has consolidated her skills in specialist assessments (e.g., cognitive assessments). In addition to her clinical work, Amy has a passion for research and statistics, and has published several journal articles stemming from her post-graduate research in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). She is an evidence-based practitioner and truly believes in science informing best practice.
